MSM is well known to general arthritis sufferers who experience various degrees of relief from aches and pain associated with stiffness and soreness in the joints. I say various degrees because it all depends on the individual and the dose.
MSM's powerful effect on every cellular membrane in the body has the result of enabling respiration on a cellular level, which in turn enables the elimination of waste product from cells, tissues, muscles, and joints.
But what about the more debilitating condition of rhuematoid arthritis? RA is a more serious autoimmune condition and it would make logical sense to partake in a higher dose, wouldn't it?
But how much is enough?
I've often wondered myself, and a couple of customers have inquired about rhuematoid arthritis recently so I thought to go on another research obsession to try to find an answer.
I've already figured out a good maintenance dose for a healthy person - 1 teaspoon per day = 5000 mg and I was suspecting that nobody wanted to put their name to any recommendation of higher doses, as we all know that the T G A (or the F D A in America) has to enforce the law and the law doesn't recognise the amazing health benefit of MSM yet, even though so many independent studies have already been documented and people's mobility has increased because of it.
Then, BINGO! While reading an article by the wonderfulyy knowledgable Dr Mercola, he detailed a quote by David 'Avocado' Wolfe regarding the dose of MSM and arthritis. This is what Wolfe said -
"MSM helps dissolve calcified deposits, turning it into calcium sulfate and making it soluble so your body can excrete it," David explains.
"The dosage of MSM has to be, in the beginning, maybe 2,500 mg per day. But really, you need to get up to 5,000 mg or 7,500 mg, and allow it to work over a period of months.
But you don't ever want to start anything at a very high dosage. Move into it gently.
I have a good friend of mine who is now taking 30,000 mg of MSM for his rheumatoid arthritis, and that is the dosage he needs in order to feel complete relief of his pain."
OK! 30,000 mg is 30 grams. I teaspoon is 5 grams, so 30 grams is 6 teaspoons per day. Now that's more like it! Flood the body with MSM, more than enough, and experience the difference. But, as Wolfe reminds us, take it easy, build up the doseage slowly otherwise you may experience a healing crisis of too much elimination at once.
I'm thinking that I'm going to increase my daily dose of 5 grams to 10 grams, as I'm getting older (and wiser!!!) as I know my diet is not always as good as it should be.
And another thing I've noticed - when I get out of routine with my daily supplements (MSM, ORMUS minerals, VIT C, BICARB SODA) my right hip starts to pinch and sometimes ache. Then when I get back into routine the pinch goes away. Very profound, I reckon!
So, if you're living with rhumatoid arthritis, and you have a desire to improve that situation I highly recommend you get a good quantity of MSM into your daily routine and I'd love to hear your feedback after trying a higher dose. Please let us all know.
